Howl of the Day: No 68

DEAD RED SUN – Caverns

Dead Red Sun should be the name of a Western. Alas, it’s also a pretty awesome name for a pretty awesome band, so the Western may have to wait (although, I’m thinking some sort of soundtrack-collaborative-connection….).

Anyhoo, Dead Red Sun are a trio from London who sidle along in the dark crevasses of instrumental post-rock, vibrating to a unique universe all of their own making, crafting soundtracks to equally inspiring and horrifying moments of life. Our Howl today is ‘Caverns’, an aptly titled song that utilises a soaring vocal reverberation over gradually quickening riffs and beats, building and building with a surprisingly sudden finale, bringing the curtains down instantly on a madcap rush of a song.
