Howl of the Day: No 130

ALGIERS – Four Priests

Algiers are a Sheffield based duo who jam the best of the mid noughties indie sensibility (rolling drum beats, slightly jilted singing stances) with innovatively jutting guitars, soaring atmospheric tensions and enveloping melodies. ‘Four Priests‘ unravels steadily, sounding like a maturing take on Young Knives, taking a similar approach with a wider breadth and depth of influences, spanning slightly more than the usual yelps and yips. The band are at Old Blue Last next Tuesday with Airship.
